Wishing my school a very happy birthday
Today is the birthday of my beloved school. It was established on this day in 1925.
I am ever indebted to my school, from where I have gained so much in life.
The logo of the school first came into existence in 1975, the golden jubilee year of the school, along with the motto - From the depths of science to the heights of knowledge.
From so many memories which I have, I am now recalling two.
The prayer meeting was a unique one. It used to begin with Stand at ease and then Attention and these orders used to come from our PT Sir.
Then Tagore's " Chitta Jetta bhoy shunya" , then Vande Mataram and Asotoma Sadgamaya was sung by a group of students.
Then a student of class 9 or 10 had to give a public speech for 2 - 3 minutes on any subject of his/her choice. Who will give the speech was decided roll no. wise. This system began at the time of our Principal Sir, Dr. Amarnath Bannerjee. I don't know whether this system is still there.
Lastly there was Jana gana mana.
Second memory is of our NCC parades two days in a week. At my time NCC in - charge of the school was Prabhat Sir.
School timings used to over by 2 PM. Then we, the cadets used to assemble in the school ground for parade, in full uniform.
Our school was attached to No.1 NCC Air Squadron Delhi.
I joined NCC while in class seven and left it in class 10. For three years I was an NCC cadet. During these three years I earned my J-l and J-ll certificates, attended two NCC camps, participated once in Independence Day show saluting the then PM Indira Gandhiji.
Love you always Raisina.
