Down the memory lane

Seeing the pictures of destruction caused by Amphan , I am reminiscing the tornado devastation of Delhi.

I was a school student at that time. A tornado hit north Delhi (the area around Delhi University) on 17 March 1978.

Though the degree of devastation of tornado can not be compared with Amphan, yet I remember the havoc created by it.

The 'rotating' wind, which lasted a mere five minutes, flung scooters and cars yards away, reduced shops to rubble and uprooted trees and light posts . Delhi University College buildings of the North Campus were damaged severely .

Thirty-two people died and eight hundred were injured.

The pictures enclosed are from net.
