Wishing you on Bandi Chhor Divas

WISHING A VERY HAPPY DEEPAVALI AND BANDI CHHOR DIVAS TO YOU ALL.

Deepavali or the festival of light is celebrated throughout India by the people of all faiths. It symbolises the progress, prosperity and beauty of life.

It is said that on Deepavali Shri Ram Chandra came back to Ayodhya after winning over Ravana. Entire Ayodhya was illuminated to welcome him along with Ma Sita, Bhrata Lakshman and Hanuman ji.

Our Sikh brothers and sisters celebrate this day of Deepavali as "Bandi Chhor" Divas.

The sixth Sikh guru respected Har Gobind Sahib ji (5 July 1595 – 19 March 1644) was imprisioned in the Gwalior fort. He got himself freed and also managed to release 52 Hindu kings who were political prisoners along with himself.

Because of this Guru ji was addressed by the masses as "Bandi Chhor" which means deliverer from the prison.

On the day of Deepavali Guruji arrived to the city of Amritsar. The Golden Temple was illuminated with hundreds of lamps to welcome him and to celebrate his return.

Hence the Deepavali day is also addressed as the "Bandi Chhor" Divas (prisoners release day or freedom day) since then.
